Position Overview:
The Chief Security Officer (CSO) will be a key member of our executive team, responsible for overseeing the organization’s overall security strategy. This role is critical in ensuring the protection of our organization’s secrets and sensitive information, as well as safeguarding our physical and intellectual assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and goals.
    • Provide strategic leadership in the areas of information security, physical security, and risk management.
    • Collaborate with the executive team to integrate security considerations into the broader organizational strategy.
  2. Information Security:
    • Protect sensitive information and organization secrets by implementing robust information security measures.
    • Oversee the development and enforcement of security policies, procedures, and protocols.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant information security standards and regulations.
    • Monitor and respond to security incidents, breaches, and potential threats.
  3. Physical Security:
    • Ensure the safety and security of the organization’s physical premises and assets.
    • Implement and manage access control systems, surveillance, and other physical security measures.
    • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  4. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of security professionals, including information security and physical security specialists.
    • Foster a culture of security awareness and vigilance within the organization.
    • Ensure team members have the resources and support needed to succeed.
  5. Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess security risks to the organization’s operations and assets.
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks.
    • Ensure the organization is prepared for and can effectively respond to security incidents and emergencies.
  6. Partnership and Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with local law enforcement, security agencies, and other relevant organizations.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with external security vendors and consultants.
    • Stay informed about emerging security threats and best practices through ongoing education and networking.
  7. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant security laws, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Manage compliance with University and National headquarters regulations and standards.
    • Prepare and present regular security reports to the executive team and board of directors.
    • Maintain detailed records of security incidents, actions taken, and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of information security principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Experience with physical security measures and risk management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • A commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
  • Pursuing a undergraduate degree at ESU, criminal justice major preferred.
